A/W Lips | Best Picks

It seems the same trends from last autumn have followed through to this year as the dark vampire lips are back!. I loved this trend last year however I stuck to the fuchsia's instead as it was a look that I was way too scared to even try and pull off as my skin was a little too pale!. But thanks to gradual tans I'm not too ghostly white any more!.

All these lip colours seem to be bloggers staples which was the main reason I picked them up. Firstly Mac's Rebel is beautiful colour with a satin finish which mean's it's not too drying but long lasting. I find you can get two colours out this lipstick as when lightly applied it's quite a dark fuchsia and when layered it gives you a dark purple look. Which means you can get away with it all year round!. Fab!. Secondly is the widely talked about 107 Kate Moss lipstick by Rimmel London which is a matte finish. As it's drug store it only lasts a colour of hours before it wears away and it dries my lips after an hour even which eight hour cream underneath so I find it to be a night-time lipstick only. I definitely wouldn't want to wear it shopping or to work as I don't have the time to be touching it up!. Lastly is the Revlon Balm stain which is very similar to Rebel with the same colour pay off  Again it's quite drying but instead of just coming off in patches like the Rimmel one it fades into a beautiful fuchsia colour!.

Mac A/W 13 Palette

It's that time of year again when make-up takes a heavier look and we ditch that 'fresh faced' look for richer colours. I write this as the heavens have just opened and strangely enough I've become really excited for A/W. Last year all I did was complain about how coats ruin outfits and now I've decided to embrace it as in the North East you don't really get anything but bad weather. 

First thing I've done (obviously) is organise my bigger Mac palette into a few different smaller ones based on the season/occasion. My Autumn one is by far my favourite as all the colours are vibrant but wearable. I don't really think light colours such as Brulee have a place in Autumn as it's all about a shimmery lid and deep reddy undertone for the crease which in my opinion just look beautiful on any skin tone!.

It also helps that they're all veluxe pearl finishes which gives them more dimension and I think this palette is going to be pretty much all I need for any A/W look I'm going for especially as any of these with wood winked blended over the top is completely transformed into a different shade!. Although I don't think I'll be able to resist popping down to mac on payday and creating another A/W with colours such as sketch,blackberry, swiss chocolate and retrospeck which I'm lusting over at the moment!.

What's In My Make Up Bag | Updated

I'm normally the type of person who puts all their make up in storage and uses it as and when needed rather than sticking to a similar routine on a daily basis, mainly because I have so many expensive products I need to use otherwise they've been a complete waste of money. However in the recent weeks I've started to use a make up bag of products instead as it gives me an extra 15 minutes of sleep (fabulous). 

Firstly this make up bag is absolutely divine,  quite childlike I suppose but the pugs with a bow collar are just beyond adorable and I've been squeezing this into the smallest of bags just so I can look at it more. It's from Ted Baker and was in the ASOS sale for £15 reduced from £22. It is PVC as you can probably tell by the flashback in the photo which also makes it easy to keep clean!.

I've definitely become a 'Mac girl' as the months have gone by. I find them to be easy products to rely on in the sense that I know exactly what I'm getting with each product I buy. 

I use the above products to create a natural base so my skin looks as bare as it can be with contouring to add shape to my face. Although I'm realitively slim unfortunately I haven't been blessed with a face to match so I like to add products to help me not look like a fat baby. I'm also starting to use light coloured blushes, eye shadows and lipsticks as again it matches the natural look.

Lastly I've been loving highlighting with a couple of products which is what I use the Mac Light Boost and lighter concealer for as it just makes me look more awake and helps to brighten up my normally dull looking face!.

I haven't included my mascaras or powders because I use that many at the moment I'd need tens of pictures to show them all!. 

RiRi ♥ Mac

As some of you may know Mac have teamed up with Rihanna to create 4 different collections which will be released every season. On Thursday the second collection was released at 12pm (although it was actually 10 minutes late) and everything was pretty much chaotic as the online queue to check out was 20 minutes which meant the Heaux lipstick I originally checked out with had sold out by this point. However I was lucky enough to get there in time to bag the duo blush/bronzer and ririboy lipstick which are gorgeous products. 

My favourite part of the collection is this duo blush/bronzer mainly because of how gorgeous and glowy the blush is. Second favourite thing is that it's going to be a great addition to my travel make up bag and replace my nars laguna bronzer which takes up a lot of space!. I originally wasn't going to get this because I'm not interested in mac's powder products however with it being limited edition I didn't really have the time to consider it otherwise it would of been gone (sucks). 

Next up is RiRiboy which is practically identical to Up The Amp except with a retro matte finish (which is extremely dry) so probably not going to be a good lipstick for the colder months. However I just think it's a gorgeous colour and my first purple lipstick so fingers crossed I actually suit it!

Beauty Looks | Red Lip

I tend to be one of those girls who doesn't plan their make up and instead chucks on the first make up items I can see. However I've decided to try to change this in the hope that my face looks a bit more organised and less "I fell asleep in my make up and this happened". So I bought some face charts from a company called pro chart in order to create some make up looks when I'm bored or on half days from work as I've finished watching new girl now and have nothing else to do (amazing finale by the way). 

My first look is more of my winter clean look which I decided to recreate to test it out. The result was better than expected although it would work better on someone who looked better than I do (always the case I'm afraid).

I did mix up the products a bit as I was in more of a powdery mood rather than cream (mainly because all my brushes I use to apply them are in need of a clean). On my face I used bourjous healthy mix foundation, mac select cover up concealor, mac brow set, mac courdory eyeshadow, nars laguna bronzer, mac well dressed blush, studio fix + powder, sleek highlighter with mac so chaud on my lips. 

On my eyes I used a mac paint pot in lets skate on the lids with woodwinked blended in to nylon eyeshadow. I then did an outer corner flick with my loreal liner pen and used YSL babydoll mascara with layers of maybelline falsies over the top. 




For me this is more of a shopping or a quick meal look. Maybe a night out look with a bit more contouring and false lashes on!.

My Eyebrow Palette

I have naturally sparce and light eyebrows so I can't really get away with not filling them in a little however I'm not a fan of eyebrow pencils or waxes so I stick to using a light powder which I think makes mine look a lot natural as I haven't grasped the art of using the others and to be honest I'm a bit to lazy to even try. 

I apply browset eyebrow gel from Mac first to darken the first 2/3's of my eyebrows and only pencil in the corners as these are practically invisible. To do this I use my Eyebrow "beauty palette" from Wet N Wild who don't actually sell their products in the UK which is extremely unfortunate as they do such amazing drugstore products.

The great thing is this palette is only around £2.40-£4 on ebay (depending on who's selling at the time) which is amazing especially as I've used mine everyday since August and it looks barely touched!. As you can see the top 3 colours are actually powder eyeshadows were-as the bottom two colours are slightly more waxy in texture and designed for filling in eyebrows which makes it a great make up bag product!. 

The product isn't amazingly pigmented for the light and dark colours which is probably the reason I love it as it leaves your eyebrows looking relatively natural, however it does stay put all day!. The contour colour is also great for when you're wanting to do a stronger brow as it stills looks as natural as a strong brow could and again stays on all day!.

For me you couldn't go wrong with this product, I've tried using Mac and Illamasqua powders and have always ended back with this one!.

Casual Smokey Eye

Over the past couple of months I've learnt to ditch the feline flick and instead go for a light eyeshadow look instead as it seems to suit my overalls big eyes a little bit as well as make me look more my age (which is a massive plus for me!). I've also learnt to love wearing a bolder lip colour wand both these looks go hand in hand which is why it's my current favourite!.

For the eyes I used stila eyeshadow in colours silk and bonbon with a smudge of scandaleyes by rimmel in the colour bronze. I then blended all these together with a real techniques shading brush!. I next moved on to my lips and first lined them with a Rimmel Lip Pencil in the colour Indian pink and then coloured in the entire lip with the same pencil then tapped on some mac lipstick in the colour girl about town!.

First thing I've stopped myself from spending money on is clothes so this month has been more of a skincare/accessories/film month!

Mac Pro Longwear Review

I've been trying quite a few different foundations recently as I like to have different colours/finishes depending on my mood and the occasion. I had to pick up Mac's prolongwear because it just felt so thick and I (naively) believed the counter staff about it's staying power. 

Firstly, this foundation is something you'll either love or hate, there's no inbetween and it all depends on what you specifically look for in a foundation. This is mainly down to the fact that it will not last more than 2 hours before becoming patchy and it does an incredible job at making the most healthy glowing skin look incredibly dry after so long. HOWEVER, the finish on this foundation is absolutely perfect when first put on and for approximately an hour after (depending on the time of year). It makes your skin look healthy and absolutely flawless which is perfect when you're just going for a meal/quick drink etc (basically anything that you want to dress your make up a bit for, but won't be out for very long). I think it's a massive shame because if this lasted 6 hours it'd be an unbeatable foundation. So overall, this is something I'll accept I have and use when needed, but will definitely not be repurchasing especially as the cost of a 30ml bottle is overpriced at £24.

I've decided after a year of not blogging that I'm going to try to get back into it if I can ever find the time!. I've recently become a massive make up hauler and my make up collection is just too beautiful to hide away, so hello!.

Today's blog post will be me nattering on about my everyday make up with mini reviews about just how fabulous they really are!. Bare with me whilst I get used to this blogging stuff....

So these are my main make-up pieces that I can't go a day without!. Although I do have a couple of pieces missing (Primer and Illuminator) just because they're so plain.
